From Ravena, NY, Coach Fryer is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz, having played with the Hawks from 2013-2016. He has put his own playing on hold to step in and replace 2015 NPRFC coach, Chris Herries.

 

"Coach Herries was a fantastic coach and I felt that by the end of the season, I had fully grasped his ideology for the game. At this level of rugby, the system we have in place here is a winning one, and it has shown."

 

His goal is to revitalize the program at SUNY New Paltz. The team has struggled in the past few years, which has negatively affected yearly turnout. With a very experienced and talented team of seniors, Coach Fryer knew he was the man for the job.

 

"We hope we will turn some heads this season. This program needs attention, attention from the school, from incoming students and the alumni base. That is what we are playing for, that is what I am coaching for. Putting together a season we can all be proud of is what we strive for."
